Current Mood: sad
Current Music: bullet the blue sky-U2
By now you all have this forward sitting in your inboxes but I found it made me think of how lucky I am so i decided to post it here.

If the population of the Earth was reduced to that of a small town
with 100 people, it would look something like this:
57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 Americans (northern and southern)
8 Africans
52 women
48 men
70 coloured-skins
30 Caucasians
89 heterosexuals
11 homosexuals

6 people would own 59% of the whole world wealth and all of
them will be from the United States of America

80 would have bad living conditions
70 would be uneducated
50 underfed
1 would die
2 would be born
1 would have a computer
1 (only one) will have higher education

When you look at the world from this point of view, you can see
there is a real need for solidarity, understanding, patience and education. Also think about the following.

This morning, if you woke up healthy, then you are happier than the 1 million people that will not survive next week.

If you never suffered a war, the loneliness of the jail cell, the agony of torture, or hunger, you are happier than 500 million people in the world.

If you can enter into a church (mosque) without fear of jail or
death, you are happier then 3 million people in the world.

If there is a food in your fridge, you have shoes and clothes, you have bed and a roof, you are richer then 75% of the people in the world.

If you have bank account, money in your wallet and some coins in the money-box, you belong to the 8% of the people on the world, who are well-to-do.

If you read this you are three times blessed because:
1.somebody just thought of you.

2.you don't belong to the 200 million people that
cannot read.

3.and... you have a computer!

As somebody once said:

" work as if you don't need money,

" love as if you've never been hurt, dance, as if nobody can
see you, sing, as if no one can hear, live, as if the Earth was a heaven."

So that is about it.

Dec. 24th, 2004 @ 12:01 am all time fave classic artists
Current Mood: busy
Current Music: Staring at the sun-U2
Back again with another random list. This time my all time fave classic artists who make real music and inspire bands today. In my opinion music was supposed to sound like this and not like most of the stuff you hear on commercial radio. Don't get me wrong i like modern music its just sometimes its too fake but there has been an increasing no. of artists who could become classic e.g red hot chili peppers, coldplay, oasis and many more. In no particular order

1. Led Zeppelin- mid 60's and 70's rock and roll at its best check out Page's guitar solos and Bonham's drum solos
2. The Beatles- what i can say, musical geniuses who reinvented themeselves with every album.
3. U2- the biggest band in the world atm and one of the few bands on this list that still play and record albums. A band that has always gone against the tide of music at the time and successfuly sold albums and tours this way e.g. POP and the Popmart tour.
4. The Who- a band that makes true rock and roll and lived the true rock and roll lifestyle.
5. The Rolling Stones- c'mon mick jagger and keith richards are rock Gods
6. Bob Dylan- musical genius whose music reflects a time of great change...just listen to the words of knockin' on heaven's door and you know its about vietnam
7. crosby, stills, nash and young- album to listen to deja vu which has classic blues inspired rock
8. Ramones- a punk revolution
9. The Clash- London Calling has to be one of the best songs ever written and joe strummer is a legend
10. janis joplin- raw and emotional music at its best
11. Joni Mitchell- i mean she has got the most amazing deep, blues voice i have heard. Probably my all time fave female musician
12. Bjork- she belongs to no genre and makes anything music
13. The velvet underground- godfathers of alernative music
14. The temptations- classic r&B
15. Marvin Gaye- musically a revolutionary for motown
16. the doors- merged very music styles to form a sort of pop/rock style. Jim Morrison is a poet as my poster says
17. Pink Floyd- psychadelic music that pushed onto the main stream. Most brillant work is dark side of the moon.
18. simon and garfunkle- brillant pop records. Standout is bridge over troubled water
19. eric clapton- wat can i say guitar genius
20. Cream- probably the greatest supergroup with Eric Claption, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. Very blues inspired
21. AC/DC- they are bloody awesome
22. Jimi Hendrix- A ****ing brillant guitarist...who else can play with their teeth??

Feel free to add more

Well I am back from Cowes with the Fab Five(well sorta. It was so much fun and thanks mookies for having me, and letting me stay in your awesome place. Anyways lets have a recap of the week. I got there last sun with Merry and during the drive we played hanson and the beach boys and sang along like a couple of dorks. Though it was mad.

Once down there we took a walk to see the beach which is practically in there backyard...awesome. Spent the day sqimming and walked to cowes and got some essentials at Coles. hmmm...mon was great as banana and shal came down and steph...so it was a mini plc reunion where we took a walk and a swim. That nite the grog was broken out and had a few drinks whilst watching tiger porn (i won't bother explaining, long story)...hehehe. Ohhh...the Uno championships were played. Tues saw a game of dirty scrabble being played...how many dirty words can you make?? We went out for lunch and dinner that day...just to celebrate being together again. The car drive to town saw banana in the boot whilst crusing the town to 'Zadok the Priest'. Once back home from a lovely pizza dinner we began to watch an Arabic movie on SBS about a chair and managed to turn the film very dirty.

Wed saw steph leave us but only to return to us the next day. Whilst in town purchased a shit cricket set which allowed for us to play beach cricket in real dodgy conditions as gale force winds made the ball turn a lot!! Spent time playing beack soccer and reading the sealed section of Cosmo-"mastuurbating macgyver". Watched our share of ABC kids tv with Barbar and Beatrix Potter. Made vodka rasberrys...yum and an intense game of twister in which many of us were placed in comprimising positions. Had a long walk on the beach at about 10pm where a branch nearly killed me...luckily i was brave.

thurs saw the return of steph and the day that all mookies uni friends were to arrive. So began a trek to get 20 bread rolls in which on the way back had sand in them due to gale force winds again...man that was funny. Once more ppl arrived it became very loud and lively which was great as drank away and then later on the beach. Banana and shal left....which was crap but we managed to amuse ourselves as steph, me, mookies and cazz pulled an all nighter and fell asleep abput 6am and woke about 11/12pm. Friday saw us revived and ready to party with mookie's toga party. But before that had a lovely bbq that the boys cooked for us. Went down to the beach to light a bonfire but ended up not working as well as expected due to the rising tide...though did get a few marshmallows in there. Took the toga party back in to the house where more drinking occured but many ppl took an early night as ppl were leaving the next day!!! Steph had an early night as mookies, cazz and me pulled another all nighter as watched looking for alibrandi and started more chatting again!! Went to bed about 5 am.

Everyone basically left on sat except me, cazz and mookies, so we began to clean up and get the sand out of the freezer and fridge..our dinner consisted of left overs as there was so much food left over. Went for a another swim too. Planned to go to bed early that night but due to stupid fly and mozzies and sand fies which were eating us alive spent the night talking some more to which we finally fell asleep about 2 am. Sun morning cazz and i went to the shops to get rolls as my parents were coming to pick us up so we went there which wasn't so bad but on the way back the sun came out and it was really hot and when back at he house needed much time to recover from our ordeal. We all were very itchy by the end as had so many bites i can't count but had a blast with all my mates and i say lets do it again sometime...if only i had a beach house...DAMN. Anyways thanks to all those that made it such a memorable trip.

Current Music: stay- U2
Well, Kate did a list and I decided to do another list but this time it's the all time greatest tearjerker songs. There are so many to list but these ones always make me cry as often they are from a movie and i can't help but cry and cry some more.

In no paticular order btw.

1. Tears in Heaven- Eric Clapton, this one was written about his son I think who died in an accident. It is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard.
2. Streets of Philadelphia- Bruce Springsteen, from the movie Philadelphia and adds a lot of meaning to the movie. Won an Oscar as well.
3. Philadelphia- Neil Young, also from Philadelphia as the whole movie was sad anyways so it makes sense for very depressing songs.
4. Knocking on Heaven's Door- Bob Dylan, wrote this song as a social commentary about Vietman and remains one of the most eye opening songs I have ever heard.
5. Imagine- John Lennon, enough said!
6. With or Without You- U2, a beautiful song that remains close to me.
7. Halleluja- Jeff Buckley, this is a cover i think of a neil young song but his voice in this song is haunting and sad.
8. i still haven't found what i am looking for- U2
9. while the streets have no name- U2, Number 6, 8 and 9 are both from the U2 album the Joshua Tree one of the most influential albums of the 90's and in my belief of all time
10. For what it's worth- Buffalo Springfield, another social commentary song about war and death.
11. What's going On- Marvin Gaye, written about poverty, the future of children and a call to leaders of the world at the time.
12. stay (faraway, so close)- U2, they write and perform heart wrenching songs
13. your song- Elton John, used in Moulin Rouge but the original is such a classic.
14. trouble- coldplay, this is one of the few songs that I like on their first album. I wasn't such a big fan for yellow and all the others but this is a stand out from their first album and makes me teary for some weird reason.
15. All you need is love- The Beatles, sad but yet motivating to look beyond material possessions and to love of each other.
16. Brothers in Arms- Dire Straits, another song about war which to hear live is so depressing.

That is about it for the time being...btw all of you should add your all time fave tearjerker song.
